Sketchbook Page Robots!

Sketchbook pages showing some development work for a robot book (working titles - A to Z of Robots or Little Book of Robots).  I will draw 40-50 robots then pick my favourite 26 to clean up and create colour versions for the book.

Commision work part one

Just completed and sent off the first batch of illustrations to Bonjour Tonton.  I imediately recieved fantastic feedback from the client and will not wait for their requests for next month.

Looking Forward

I want to use the next module to create high quality work for my portfolio.  I want to further develop the style created last year using pen and digital colour but also considering using ideas gained on the last project.  I am currently discussing a commission with a client based on my portfolio, as usual it was the simple bright style of the robots that they really wanted for the work.

Looking Back - Year 3

I have begun this term by experimenting with new ways of presenting my work.  I have also used a slightly different styles somewhere between my older realistic images and more more recent styles.  I have to say that I don't feel they visually as strong or professional than work in my previous style such as the robots and the christmas cards below.  What this work did give me was a new insight into how best to showcase and publish my work.

Looking Back - Year 2

This was the year that I developed my work towards a style that I felt worked well and looked profesional.

This style is distinctive enough to be easily recognised as my own and is well suited to the sort of commissions I would like.  I have identified pen line work and digital colour as my favoured method of working.

Looking Back - Year 1

In year one I started to depart from more traditional styles and experiment with childrens illustration and comic book illustration.

This year was really used to explore different ideas and styles to begin to form a better idea of what styles and mediums I would like to use.  It was also the year that I learnt to use digital colour which I have continued to use im more recent work.

Looking Back - Year 0

Fantsy and portrait commisions 2007 - 2008

My work at this time was still largely realistic compared to later graphic styles.  Very little originality, time consuming and a great deal of competetition for clients / contracts.  Observation drawings from still life and photos - pen and ink, pencil.
